Delwar safeguarded BNP in crisis point
Leaders tell condolence meeting
BNP leaders yesterday paid tribute to the party's late secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain hailing his extra ordinary role during the military backed caretaker government.
They also expected dedicated and committed leadership like him so that BNP can fight any sort of conspiracy in the future.
Delwar was ignored within the party, but he played the most vital role in the crisis moment of the party and the country as well, they said.
The leaders condoled the death of Khandaker Delwar Hossain at a meeting at Engineers Institution Auditorium in the city, chaired by BNP vice chairman Justice TH Khan.
BNP standing committee members Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, RA Gani, Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar, Sarwari Rahman, Nazrul Islam Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Mirza Abbas, and senior joint secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, among others, also spoke.
Khandaker Mosharraf said taking lesson from the life of Delwar, the party men must prepared for the movement to bring back democracy by ousting the present government.
Moudud Ahmed said all, inspired by the ideology of Delwar, have to be united to bring the end to democratic autocracy.
Delwar could not be a minister, but did his best to save the party during most crisis points of the party, said Nazrul Islam Khan.
Indicating at the vacant post of BNP secretary general, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, said they want leader like Delwar who can stand boldly during the bad time of the party.
