Four killed, 76 hurt in road crashes

Four people were killed and 76 others injured in raod accidents in Gaibandha, Go-palganj, and Natore yesterday. Our Gaibandha correspondent reports: A truck driver and his helper were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision with another truck near Jahnara market in Gobindaganj Upa-zila of the district yesterday. Trucker Anwarul Anu, 45, died on the spot and helper Liakat, 26, at Bogra Medical College Hospital. The injured were taken to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex. Our Gopalganj correspondent says: A college girl was killed and 70 others injured when two Dhaka-bound buses collided side-on and overturned at Gopinathpur in sadar upazila of the district yesterday. Dead is Mishori, 21, of Bagerhat sadar upazila. She was a student of South East University. Twenty-five of the injured were admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital and other clinics. The rest were released after primary treatment. Our Natore correspondent adds: An elderly bicyclist was killed on the spot after being hit by a taxi from behind at Lathuria in Baraigram upazila of the district yesterday. Nur Mohammad Nuru, 75, of the village Atua of the upazila was an ice-cream seller.
