Seminar on HS Codes, Incoterms in Ctg
Knowing about the internationally recognised terms of contact (Incoterms) and commodity codes is vital for the exporters and other export related persons in the country.
Md Zakir Hossain, deputy director of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in Dhaka, said this at a seminar on “Incoterms and Importance of Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding system (HS Code)” held at the EPB conference hall in Chittagong.
Presenting a keynote paper, Zakir said different commodities are identified by their HS Codes, which act as the ID of commodities as recognized by the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
He also explained the different terms and codes formulated by the ICCI related to exports.
Referring to the codes, he said six digits are common for all while the next digits vary from country to country.
Assistant Commissioner of Custom (Export) Mujibur Rahman and Bangladesh Bank Deputy Director Tapash Bhattacharjee, among others, discussed on the paper, while Chittagong EPB Director Abdul Moin presided over the seminar.
