'Keep up-to-date with current affairs'
Speakers yesterday said students should be acquainted with current affairs of home and abroad alongside academic studies to hold the helm of the country.
They were speaking at a closing ceremony of a month-long debate workshop organised by Chittagong University Debating Society at Bachelor of Business Administration faculty auditorium of Chittagong University (CU).
Speakers said debating clubs should be established in every school and college to flourish dormant talents.
CU acting Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Mohammad Alauddin attended the programme as the chief guest with Prof Dr Mabubul Haque in the chair.
Former dean of social sciences faculty Prof Dr Gazi Saleh Uddin, law faculty Dean Prof Md Zakir Hossain and AKM Raisul Huq Bahar, bureau chief of The Daily Star, also spoke as special guests.
Later the CU VC distributed certificates among 160 CU students participating in the workshop.
