Road crashes kill 7
Seven people were killed and 26 others injured in road accidents in Dinajpur, Sirajganj, Madaripur, Brahmanbaria, and Munshiganj yesterday and Wednesday night.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports: Two people including a policeman were killed and 24 others wounded in separate road accidents in Birganj and Chirirbandar upazilas of Dinajpur yesterday and Wednesday night.
Abdur Rashid, 35, a sub-inspector (SI) Kotwali Police Station in Nilphamari, died on the spot after his motorbike was crashed by a truck at Bhusirbandar in Chirirbandar.
Rashid hails from Madargonj village of Thakurgaon sadar upazila.
Another person was killed and 24 others wounded in a bus-truck collision at Sujalpur village of Birganj Wednesday night. Dead is Abdullah, 34, a resident of Majhboal village in Birganj.
The injured were given treatment at Birganj Health Complex, Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, and other hospitals.
Our Sirajganj correspondent adds: Two workers were killed and two others injured in a two-truck collision at Nukali in Shahjadpur upazila of the district yesterday.
Dead are Motaleb, 45, of Kadamtoli in Dhaka, and Abdul Mannan, 35, of Barguna. The injured were admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital in critical conditions.
Our Madaripur correspondent reports: A schoolteacher died on the spot after being run over by a truck in Shibchar municipal area of the district early yesterday.
Kawsar Sikdar of Uzirpur upazila in Barisal was a teacher of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Girls High School.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent says: A man was killed after his tractor fell into a ditch at Ibrahimpur village in Nabinagar upazila of the district Wednesday night. Suhrab Hossain, 35, of the village, died on the way to Comilla Modern Hospital.
Our Munshiganj correspondent reports: An unknown man was killed after a bus with 50 passengers including the victim plunged into a roadside pond at Rarikhal in Sreenagar upazila of the district yesterday.
