Rice dealer jailed, fined Tk 4.36 lakh
One rice dealer of a government fair priced shop was sentenced to 15 days in jail, fined Tk 436,680 and cancelled of his dealership for charging higher prices at Sekandarnagar area in Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Yusuf Ali of Tarail, aided by a Rapid Action Battalion team, raided the shop of dealer Abdur Rahim, resident of the upazila's Dhala Nayapara village.
The UNO handed down the verdict as Abdur admitted to selling rice and wheat at a price higher than the government rate.
