Last caretaker govt was a threat to democracy
Says Dipu Moni
The last caretaker government was a threat for democracy as it attempted to block the normal process of politics through arrests and torture on politicians as well as filing false cases against them, said Foreign Minister Dipu Moni.
But they could not succeed at last and politicians should always remain alert on these attempts, she asserted.
She was addressing a view-exchange meeting with Awami League (AL) leaders and workers at Sylhet Circuit House yesterday.
Mentioning that the opposition always likes to earn political benefit from everything, she said they do not join parliament sessions but whenever they do, they resort to individual attacks on AL instead of constructive criticism.
City Mayor and city AL Chief Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran; lawmakers Syeda Zebunnesa Haque, Mahmudu Us Samad Chowdhury and Shofiqur Rahman Chowdhury; AL Central Organising Secretary Mesbah Uddin Siraj; and district AL President ANM Shafiqul Haque and General Secretary Iftekhar Hossain Shamim were also present.
