A domestic company has introduced two new technologies, imported from Japan, for water purification to ease drinking water crisis in the country. Cycloclean and Desaliclean, the two pieces of equipment imported by Desh-Bidesh Enterprise (BDE), were exhibited at Dhaka University yesterday. BDE Corporate Sales Officer Partha Pathive said cycloclean is a bicycle-like machine. "Six litres of water can be purified by peddling it one minute and 300 litres an hour." Two cycloclean machines, each costing Tk 1.5 lakh and producing fresh water for 1,500 people within 10 hours, can meet water demand of a building with 70 apartments, he said.
