Leaders of Jatiya Olama Mashayek Parishad yesterday demanded trial of Mufti Fazlul Huq Amini on charge of killing two madrasa students early this month. Two madrasa students were killed in separate incidents related to the April 4 hartal, called by Amini-led faction of Islamic Oikya Jote (IOJ) and Ameer of Islamic Ain Bastabayan Committee to protest women's policy. “Amini should take responsibility of the killing of two innocent students,” Convenor of the Jatiya Olama Mashayek Parishad Maulana Mujibur Rahman Juktibadi told a press conference at the National Press Club in the city. He said Amini should be 'hung' for the murders. Referring to the clause 23.5 of the women's policy, he said it describes that women will get equal rights in property, employment and trade and business. Citing the clause 25.2 of the policy, he said it spells out women's due rights in income, inheritance, credit, land and trade. “Amini is trying to create confusion by misinterpreting the two clauses though the clause 23.5 of the same policy clarifies that the word 'property' doses not mean 'inherited property', rather the policy aims at ensuring constitutional rights of women in earning, jobs and trade and business,” Rahman said. He pointed out that the policy also speaks of rights of women to joint business and investment, which are not contradictory to the Quran and the Sunnah. Members of the Olama Mashayek Parishad Maulana Dr Abdul Momen Siraji, Hazrat Maulana Abdul Aziz and Hazrat Maulana Ameer Mahja also spoke at the press conference.
