One arrested with fake notes
Police arrested one person with eight counterfeit notes of Tk 1,000 denomination from Kadamtali area under Kotwali police station in the port city yesterday.
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Matin, 30, hailed from Sylhet.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive in Kadamtali area and arrested Matin with the fake notes.
Police said Matin disclosed the name of some members of his gang. He told police that the fake notes have been brought from Dhaka and one Kamal in Dhaka distributes these fake notes throughout the country.
Police said they are verifying the information and launched drives in different spots in the port city to arrest other members of the gang.
