'All parties against indigenous people's rights'

All past governments conspired to annihilate indigenous communities instead of promoting development and welfare in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region, said Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, chairman of CHT Regional Council, yesterday. He was addressing as the chief guest at the eleventh conference of CHT Mahila Samity, an associate body of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS), at Rajbari outer stadium in the city. CHT Mahila Samity Vice President Jyoti Prava Larma Minu chaired the programme. Bodhipriya, popularly known as Santu Larma, chief of PCJSS, said there is not one political party that think about and wants to provide the right of self-determination of indigenous communities. On indigenous people, Santu said many are involved with political parties for personal interests, not for the welfare of the indigenous. Mongal Kumar Chakma, PCJSS information and publicity secretary; Bijoy Keton Chakma, Manabendra Narayan Larma Memorial Foundation convenor; Kalpana Chakma, CHT Mahila Samity secretary; and Jonaki Chakma, president of Hill Women Federation; also spoke.
