Land grabbing complaint against BNP leader
Madan upazila BNP president Gul Ahmed and his accomplices are trying to grab 85 acres of paddy field owned by a retired army man residing at village Tabiargati under Kandua upazila in the district, according to a complaint filed to the Netrakona police superintendent.
Following the complaint, the Netrakona SP went to Khaliajuri Police Station on January 2 and instructed the officer-in-charge (OC) to take action.
On April 21 last year, Gul Ahmed and his accomplices beat up labourers in his Boro paddy field in Bathuil haor and took away the paddy, victim Abdul Kader Chowdhury said in his complaint.
Kader filed a case with a Netrakona magistrate's court on April 25 last year accusing seven people. The court sent the matter to Khaliajuri Police Station but police did not take any action.
The criminal group on November 5 last year again attacked the labourers in Abdul Kader's field. They demanded Tk 2 lakh as toll from Abdul Kader and took away a power tiller and other tools. The following day, Abdul Kader filed another case.
When contacted, Khlaiajuri OC Abdul Kaium said both the cases are under investigation.
