Observers asked to apply within May 19
The Election Commission (EC) has asked the interested election monitoring organisations both from home and abroad to submit their applications within May 19 to observe the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) polls.
The UP elections will be held from May 31 to July 5 in 3813 union councils under 414 upazilas in 57 districts across the country, according to second phase election schedule declared by the commission.
The local and foreign election monitoring agencies which are registered with the EC will be able to observe the upcoming polls, said a press release yesterday.
“In this context, interested election observing agencies from home and abroad have been requested to apply to the secretary of the Election Commission within May 19,” the release said, adding that they would have to mention number of the total observers in the group.
