Woman killed by husband for dowry
A woman was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Dorbashpur village in Atpara upazila of the district Thursday night.
Hosna Akther, 22, the deceased, was wife of Shahid Mia. Shahid married Hosna, daughter of Alimuddin of village Deopur under the sadar upazila, two and half years ago.
Police said Shahid used to beat his wife for dowry. Thursday night, he asked Hosna to bring money from her father and started beating her after she refused.
Hosna died after a short while of the beating. Shahid dumped her body into the pond in front of his house and fled.
On information police recovered the floating body. A case was filed with Atpara Police Station in this connection.
