Road crashes kill six
Six people were killed and 14 others injured in separate road accidents in Madaripur, Satkhira, Manikganj, Brahmanbaria and Noakhali yesterday.
A correspondent from Madaripur reports: At least two persons were killed and five others injured as a motorcycle collided head-on with a tempo on Dhaka-Barisal highway at Boulgram Kalibari of Rajoir upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Asaduzzaman Babu, 25, and Rafiqul Islam, 18.
Our Satkhira correspondent adds: A four-year-old child was crushed under the wheels of a truck while he was crossing Satkhira-Kaliganj road at Kukodanga in Kaliganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rakib, son of Saiful Islam of Kukodanga.
Our Manikganj correspondent says: A motorcyclist was killed as a truck hit his motorcycle from behind on Manikganj-Rajibpur road at Koitta of Saturia upazila yesterday.
The deceased is Ali Hossain, 60, of Kalinagar village of Manikganj Sadar upazila and general secretary of Atigram union committee of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD).
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds: A schoolgirl was killed under the wheels of a speeding bus while she was crossing road on Brahmanbaria-Sylhet highway at Medda village of Sadar upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Mahmuda Akter, 10, a student of Asif Tutorial School and a daughter of Md Gulam Mia of Titaspara village.
Following the accident agitating people barricaded the road for an hour.
Our Noakhali correspondent says: One person was killed and nine others were injured as a bus lost its control and hit a roadside tree at Saudiabazar of Hatiya upazila in the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Marjahan Begum 35.
