Per capita agri-land to be below 15 decimal in 50 years: Minister
Land Minister Alhaj Rezaul Karim Hira yesterday said per capita agricultural land would come down below 15 decimal in the next 50 years if the population growth continues to increase.
He said the government is going to enact a law soon to protect agricultural land and ensure its proper utilisation.
The minister was distributing sewing machines among distressed women under “Poverty reduction and women development programme” at Jamalpur sadar upazila parishad auditorium.
Hira said it is impossible to implement Vision-2021 without mainstreaming women. He said the government took various uplift programmes for socio-economic development of the country's poor.
He said poor women are being provided income generating training, sewing machines, allowance and livestock free of cost to make them self-reliant.
Mrinal Kanti Deb, chief executive of Jamalpur zila parishad, presided over the function.
