Five killed in road accidents

Five people were killed and five others injured in road accidents in Chittagong, Lalmonirhat, Mymensingh, and Tangail yesterday. Staff Correspondent, Ctg reports: Two persons were killed on the spot and five others injured as a bus skidded into a ditch near Panthichila Bazar in Sitakunda upazila, Chittagong yesterday. One of the deceased is Joynal Abedin, 60, of Jorarganj of Mirsarai upazila. Identity of the second could not be not known immediately. The injured were sent to local health complex. Our Correspondent, Lalmonirhat says: A motorcyclist was killed after a truck crashed his vehicle from opposite direction at Barobari in Lalmonirhat sadar upazila yesterday morning. Deceased is Manjur Islam, 45, of Fulbari village in Kurigram district. He died on the way to Lalmonirhat sadar hospital. Our Correspondent, Mymensingh adds: An elderly woman was killed after being knocked down by a bus at Masterbari in Bhaluka upazila of the district yesterday. Dead is Ershader Ma, 70, wife of late Jahed Ali of the village Balla in Khaliajuri upazila, Netrokona. She died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital after being shifted from Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex. Our Correspondent, Tangail reports: An Imam (religious leader) died on the spot after being run over by a truck at Elenga Bus Stand at Kalihati upazila, Tangail yesterday. Deceased is Harun-or-Rashid, 26, of Taralkandi village of Melandaha upazila, Jamalpur. He was an Imam of one of his village mosques.
