5 muggers held in Ctg
Five fleeing miscreants who mugged Tk 5 lakh from a youth were captured and beaten up by local people in Bhaiyar Dighi under Patiya Police Station in Chittagong Wednesday.
Police later arrested the five snatchers identified as Liton Barua, 33, Suman Das, 30, Emon Talukdar, 34, Amjad Hossain, 30, and Jasim Uddin, 30.
Patiya police sources said a gang of 10 men snatched the amount from Sirajul Manir, a student of Gachhbariya Degree College, introducing them as detective police.
Munir was returning home in Chandanaish after withdrawing Tk 5 lakh from a bank in Chittagong city.
As the muggers were trying to flee the scene, locals managed to catch five of them in Olirhat area and gave a beating.
Patiya police later reached there and took the hooligans away from the mob.
