Five quit Sust proctorial body
The proctor and four assistant proctors of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (Sust) resigned yesterday after the university syndicate adjourned expulsion of a student.
Vice Chancellor Prof Saleh Uddin confirmed to have received resignation letters of proctor Md Saiful Islam and assistant proctors Abu Seed Md Arefin khan, Chowdhury Abdullah-Al-Hossaine, Israt -Ibn-Ismail, and Md Asif Iqbal.
Sources said the syndicate adjourned the expulsion of MU Shimul for an indefinite period last Tuesday based on a High Court verdict that stayed the expulsion order.
Shimul, a student of social work department, works as correspondent for the Dainik Jalabad, a local daily.
The syndicate, in its previous meeting, expelled him for one year on allegation of making fake news against assistant proctor Md Faruq Uddin.
