Road crashes kill 5, injure 11
Five people were killed and 11 others injured in separate road accidents in Manikganj, Pabna, Brahmanbaria and Noakhali on Thursday and yesterday.
Our Manikganj correspondent reports: A motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured as the motorcycle collided head-on with a microbus on Dhaka-Aricha high way at Muljan on Thursday evening.
The victim was identified as Mohammad Sohel, 24, son of Abdul Mannan of Gilondo village of Manikganj Sadar upazila. He was student of BBA of American International University in Bangladesh (AIUB).
The injured were admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
Our Pabna correspondent reports: A man was killed and five others were injured as a Dhaka-bound bus hit a Nasiman, locally made three-wheeler, on Dhaka-Pabna highway at Madhpur on Thursday.
The deceased is identified as Nizam Uddin, 42, son of Ezem Uddin, of village Manikdir of Sujanagar upazila.
The injured were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent says: A woman was killed as a speeding bus knocked her down while she was crossing Brahmanbaria bypass road at Modhyapara village yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Halima, 48, of Poyrtala village.
After the accident agitating locals blocked the road for an hour and damaged vehicles.
Police arrested the driver and helper of the bus.
BSS from Noakhali adds: Two people were killed and four others injured on Lazimipur-Chaumuhani road at Banglabazar under Begumganj upazila yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Narayan Chandra Malakar, 62 and Binda Rani, 65, of Khilpara village in Chatkhil upazilla.
The accident occurred when a speedy pick-up collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot.
The injured were admitted to Noakhali General Hospital.
