Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) will conduct a research on the irregularities in land management and harassment faced by general people in land related issues. The research would also assess existing land related laws and amalgamate different draft proposals of land reform legislations. The plans were unveiled at a discussion at Dhaka University senate bhaban yesterday, chaired by MJF Executive Director Shaheen Anam, says a press release. Land Minister Rezaul Karim Hira and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land Ministry AKM Mozammel Haque were also present. Speakers at the discussion said land policies in Nepal and India would be reviewed to find solutions to such issues faced by indigenous people in Chittagong Hill Tracts region. Being conducted in association with Human Development Resource Centre, the research is expected to be completed by the middle of 2013, adds the release.
