Malaysia keen to invest in dev sectors
Special envoy tells PM

Malaysia is keen to invest in various development sectors in Bangladesh especially in road communication and house building sectors. The interest was conveyed when the visiting special envoy of Malaysia Dato Seri S Samy Vellu paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the latter's Ganobhaban official residence in the city yesterday. During the meeting, they discussed various multilateral issues including ways and means to establish peace in the region and expansion of trade and business between the two countries, said PM's Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad briefing newsmen after the meeting. The visiting special envoy of Malaysia lauded the pragmatic and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her relentless efforts for achieving progress in various fields through establishing peace in the Asian region. “We are hopeful that Bangladesh would be able to achieve its desired progress under the able and prudent leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Malaysia is observing Bangladesh's progress as we are very much happy witnessing the pace of the country's development,” he said. In reply, the Bangladesh premier recalled Malaysian recognition to Bangladesh and said it was the first Muslim country that recognised Bangladesh as an independent state after the country's War of Liberation. Sheikh Hasina said excellent bilateral relation is existing between the two countries and also expressed the hope that the relation would be further expanded in the years to come. Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Jamaluddin Bin Sabeh accompanied the Malaysian special envoy during the meeting. Ambassador At Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary M A Karim, Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad and PM's Special Assistant Abdus Sobhan Golap were present on the occasion.
