Indo-Bangla survey resumes on May 18

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet
The much-talked joint survey on the Meghalaya-Sylhet borders would resume on Wednesday (May 18), said officials after a 2-day meeting with Indian counterparts yesterday afternoon. The meeting was held at Zila Parishad Rest House near Tamabil. Earlier on Thursday, the meeting was held at Dauki in Tamabil (Indian side). Prior to the meeting, officials of the Directorate of Survey and Land Administration visited different places of Sylhet-Meghalaya borders. The survey was suspended on April 5 as Bangladesh officials could not agree with India over survey points on the adversely possessed lands (APL) on different borders in the region. The joint border survey on the APL began on December 7 last year.
