3 mugged by dope gangs in city

Three persons fell victim to dope gangs, popularly known as 'ogyan party', in two separate incidents in the city yesterday. The victims claimed to have lost a total of Tk 3.15 lakh to the gangs. Mohammad Sulaiman, 30, an expatriate to Dubai, and his brother-in-law Mohammad Alauddin, 40, encountered the dope gang during a bus journey from their village home Matlab in Chandpur to the city. Boarding a bus to Sayedabad, they were going to Rupganj in Gausia to buy a land property, said police. The helper of the bus found the two in an unconscious state while the bus was crossing Matuail, added police. A youth named Shakil took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 12:30pm. The victims claimed that the criminals mugged Tk 2.8 lakh from them. In another incident, Tanvir Ahmed, 25, a Master's student of Jagannath University, was doped and mugged Tk 35,000 by a dope gang. He said, on a bus journey from Narayanganj to Motijheel in the city, he fell unconscious in the bus after eating some pickles from a hawker. The bus staffs took him to DMCH. Interestingly, the victims in both incidents said the criminals didn't take their cell phones.
