Road crashes kill one, injure 21
A person was killed and 21 others injured in road accidents in Chittagong and Gaibandha yesterday.
Our Ctg correspondent resports: A man was killed after being run over by a lorry at Barapole under Halishahar Police Station in the port city yesterday morning.
Dead is Md Jewel, 40, of Halishahar.
Witnesses said a recklessly driven lorry knocked Jewel down while he was crossing the road.
Injured critically he was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
Our Gaibandha correspondent adds: At least 21 persons including a sub-inspector of police were injured in two separate road accidents in Gaibandha district yesterday.
On Shaghata-Putimari road, SI Korban Ali sustained severe injuries as his motorbike collided head-on with a three-wheeler.
Ali was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. His condition is stated to be critical.
On Palashbari-Gaibandha road in Thutiyapukur, a Gaibandha-bound bus plunged into a roadside ditch leaving 20 passengers wounded.
Seven of them were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in serious condition and the rest to Palashbari health complex.
