DV lottery clarification

The US Department of State issued a notice that all Diversity Visa (DV) selection results for DV-2012 published worldwide between May 1 to 6 this year have been voided due to a computer error in the random selection process. A statement from the US Embassy, Dhaka says all notices informing entrants that they have been selected for further processing in DV-2012 have been withdrawn. A new random selection will take place, and the results will be published on July 15, 2011, it adds. DV lottery is an opportunity of immigration given by the US government for people throughout the world. According to the statement, the US law requires that all Diversity Immigrant Visas be made available strictly on a random basis. "A computer programming error resulted in an outcome that was not truly random. Therefore, the results published earlier this month do not meet the requirements of the law and must be voided," reads the statement. Individuals who submitted a qualified entry from October 5, 2010, to November 3, 2010, do not need to re-apply as the qualified entries from this time period will be included in the new random selection, the statement reads. Confirmation numbers provided to check status on the Entry Status Check web page will remain valid. The statement suggests to visit http://www.dvlottery.state.gov for further details.
