Journalism Foundation launched
Journalism and Peace Foundation, an organisation for the promotion of journalism and peace, was launched yesterday in the city, says a press release.
The foundation will stress the importance to address the quality and ethical issues in journalism and news media so that best professional practices are ensured.
Senior journalist and writer Harun Habib will lead the foundation as its executive director, which will also keep an eye on peace-building and conflict resolution.
JPF will sensitise the media to take up journalism as an independent, investigative, and socially responsible profession.
It will also conduct workshops and training courses for young journalists and carry out research and studies for mapping and monitoring the news media in Bangladesh and the regional countries.
The foundation will also undertake programmes for exchange of visits by journalist and organise dialogues and discourses among the media professionals of Bangladesh and regional countries.
