CU syndicate concerned
Chittagong University (CU) syndicate at an emergency meeting yesterday expressed concern over Monday's untoward incidents and urged the students to shun act of vandalism to realise their demands.
The syndicate meeting made the call following vandalism of teachers' bus and shuttle train on Monday by section of unruly students. Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Alauddin presided over the meeting.
Dr Mohammad Kamrul Huda, a syndicate member and also the Provost of Pritilata Hall, condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment of those who involved in Monday's vandalism of state wealth.
The activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) vandalised teachers' buses, shuttle train and Tori (human hauler) services to press their six-point demand.
The BCl, however, postponed their indefinite strike following a meeting with the university authorities on Monday night. The authorities assured them of fulfilling their four demands.
