Bank official kills himself
A bank official hanged himself at his residence in Mirsarai College road area under Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong on Tuesday night.
Deceased is Md Solaiman, 43, of North Kattali of Pahartali in the port city. He was the manager of National Bank Ltd, Mirsarai branch.
Police recovered his body around 8:00pm on Tuesday.
Tapan Bagchi, sub-inspector of Mirsarai Police Station, said they found an eight-page suicide note written by Solaiman.
Tapan quoted the note as saying that he (Solaiman) borrowed Tk 58 lakh from his relatives and friends.
With the money he bought lands and flats in different places, but failed to repay the loan, added Tapan.
The SI also said Solaiman was mentally distressed with these matters, which might have been the reason behind his committing suicide.
Sources said Solaiman fathered a son and a daughter. His wife and children reside in Chittagong city.
