Seven killed in road crashes
Seven people were killed and 41 others injured in road accidents in Tangail, Savar, Dinajpur and Gazipur yesterday.
Our Tangail correspondent: Three people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and an improvised three-wheeler at Charpara in Mirzapur, Tangail yesterday.
Deceased are Sabuj, 20, Shompa Akhter, 23, and Alamgir, 55. They were aboard the three-wheeler. The injured were taken to Kumudini Hospital in Mirzapur.
UNB from Savar reports: Two motorcyclists died on the spot after being knocked down by a bus at Baliarpur in front of Modhumoti Model Town in Savar, outskirts of the city, yesterday.
One of the deceased was identified as Anis Chowdhury, 40, a trader and resident of Mirpur in the city. Identity of the other could not be known.
Our Dinajpur correspondent adds: At least 37 people were wounded in a bus-truck collision near Motiara Bridge in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur yesterday.
Five of the injured were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition, 11 to Birampur Heath Complex, and 21 to Nawabganj Upazila Health Complex.
The critically hurt are the truck driver Md Arshad Ali 38, helper Jadu Mia 22, Abdur Rahim 18, Md Shafiqul Islam, 30, and Zia Mia, 22.
UNB from Gazipur adds: Two motorcyclists were killed when their motorbike was hit by a covered van at Sutrapur in Kaliakoir upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Saiful Islam, 30, resident of Bharanda village in Sadar upazila and Jahirul Islam, 32, assistant store keeper of a garments in Kashimpur.
Local sources said two people died on the spot as a covered van hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Tangail Highway at about 8:00pm.
Police later seized the covered van, but its driver and helper managed to escape.
Saiful and Jahirul, both are friends, met the accident while they were going to Tangail from the district.
