Am I a miser!
If you come to Ishwardi Govt College you will still find the windows of the principal's office broken. The Principal's staunch decision to enroll the honours students on the basis of merit made the ruling party student leaders angry and hence the violence.
After passing BCS examination, such kind of humiliation awaits an officer. And when his salary becomes too meager to maintain the soaring cost of life, he gets disillusioned with the first class government job.
And when he sees the political leaders with very little education leading a lavish life, he tries to hide his face in solitude or face the sneer of the undeserved rich or at last seek solace looking downwards at the poorer class.
The other day one of my relatives who has a chauffeur-driven car jokingly called me a miser because I do not buy a car in spite of being a govt. college teacher.
But when I told him that it is not me but the government who gives me only 60 thousand taka as car loan is miserly, he quipped that that sum of money can not even buy the four wheels of a car. I bore the humiliation patiently and pinned my hope on Allah.
