Malaysian killed in city road accident
A Malaysian citizen was killed in a road accident at Kakoli in the city early yesterday.
The deceased identified as Palani Appan, 61, fell victim while he was going to hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel from the airport by a car around 12:00noon.
Police said Palani arrived at Shahjalal International Airport from Malaysia around 11:00pm.
The accident occurred when a truck suddenly hit Palani's car as its driver lost control over the steering, said Mohammad Shah Alam, officer-in-charge of Gulshan police station.
The passengers, including the driver suffered serious injuries and locals rushed them to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared Palani dead.
Two others were shifted to a city clinic from DMCH as their condition deteriorated.
Police sent the body to Dhaka Medical College morgue.
They seized the truck but its driver managed to escape, Shah Alam said.
