5 held with stolen vehicles
Police have arrested five alleged thieves along with five stolen vehicles in separate drives in and outside of the city.
OC of Mirpur police Kazi Wazed said they conducted raids at Mohammadpur, Mirpur, Narayanganj and arrested youths --Lalchan, Parvez, Sumon, Zakir, and Chan Miah. All of them are members of a vehicle lifting gang, he said.
The drive started around 9:00pm on Monday and ended yesterday around 10:00am.
Police said they recovered four stolen motorbikes and a private car from their possession.
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) early yesterday seized 29 CNG-run three wheelers from the city's Shyampur and adjacent area and arrested 25 people in this connection.
Rab said all of the arrestees are the members of inter-district auto rickshaw lifting gang. They were engaged in lifting the three wheelers either making drivers unconscious or killing them.
