Schoolgirl rescued
A schoolgirl abducted from Habiganj town 19 days ago was rescued from a Patuakhali brothel on Thursday evening.
Tricking the brothel staff, the girl contacted her family finally earning her freedom.
Family sources said a gang of traffickers adducted the girl, a student of class nine of a school in Nabiganj town of Habiganj, on May 7 while she was going to the school in the morning.
Later, the abductors sold her to a brothel at Notun Bazar in Patuakhali town. She was kept at one Fatima's house.
Meanwhile, the girl's brother filed a general diary with Nobiganj Police Station in this connection.
However, police could not make any headway into rescuing the schoolgirl.
On May 25, the girl phoned her brother and explained her situation.
Later, a police team led by Abu Bakor Siddik, ASP raided the brothel around 6:00pm on Thursday and rescued the girl.
Police also arrested Fatima, 50, the leader of the brothel.
The girl was sent to a safe custody while the arrestee to jail.
