Man killed over 'land dispute'
A man was strangulated allegedly by his neighbour following a land dispute at Basail upazila of the district yesterday.
The body of Abdul Kader, 45, son of Abdul Hamid of Andira Para village in the upazila, was found hanging by a shirt from a tree at Bhairpara village in the morning, said Mosharraf Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) of Basail Police Station.
The body bore marks of injury which indicates that he might have been strangulated before being hanged, police alleged.
“In the preliminary investigation, we also found that Kader had enmity with one of his neighbours over a piece of disputed land, which might be the cause for the killing,” the SI said.
The body was sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
