Four hurt in bridge collapse
Four people suffered wounds as an under-construction bridge on Begunbari canal collapsed into the water in the city's Sabujbagh yesterday.
Injured are Nur Islam Matubbor, 65, and Mozibor Rahman, 35, of Sabujbagh and two unidentified construction workers aged around 35 and 40.
They were rushed to a local clinic.
The 40-feet long and 14-feet wide bridge, being constructed allegedly with inadequate and low quality materials, collapsed with the four victims.
Mohammad Ripon, the contractor, has been absconding since the accident.
Ripon started the construction 17 days back, winning a contract of Tk 28 lakh from Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED).
