Satkhira Jamaat leader held at Dhaka airport
A local Jamaat leader has been arrested at Dhaka airport soon after his arrival from Makkah in connection with cheating 55 pilgrims
Satkhira Pourasava Ward No 8 Jamaat secretary Aminul Islam Bakul, 42, of Kukhrali in the town, was arrested by the immigration police on Thursday in connection with nine cases filed against him and others with Sadar and Kaliganj police stations.
He also misappropriated Tk 50 lakh deposited by the pilgrims in name of sending them to Saudi Arabia, police said.
The other accused Jamaat leaders are Maulana Mustafizur Rahman of Puratan Satkhira in Sadar upazila, Romjan Ali Dhali manager of Dhaka office of Messrs Jebrik Travel and wife Akhtar Banu alias Hira of Shushilgati village in Debhata upazila. and Rabiul Islam of Sakhipur village in Debhata upazila. They were absconding since filing of the cases.
Azizur Rahman and Azizul Islam of Alipur village in Sadar upazila, Amjad Hossain of Adalatpur village in Assassuni upazila and other victims filed the cases.
On contact, Sadar police station officer- in- charge (OC) Abdul Kader Beg confirmed the arrest.
