4 get life for killing schoolteacher

A Jamalpur court sentenced four people to life term rigorous imprisonment (RI) for killing a schoolteacher in 2005. Jamalpur District and Sessions Judge Inamul Hafiz, who delivered the verdict on Thursday, and also fined the convicts Tk 5,000 each, in default, they have to suffer six months more in jail. The convicts are: Shahed Ali, 25, Mosharaf Hossain, 35, Abed Ali, 45, and Suruj Ali, 55, of Char Lotkar village at Madarganj upazila in the district. Ten other accused of the case, got acquitted as allegations against them were not proved. Centring a previous enmity, the convicts called Khorshed Alam, 28, a teacher of Shamganj Kalibari High School in the upazila, out of his house at night on November 30, 2005 and beat him mercilessly. Khorshed later died in a hospital. Khorsed's father filed a murder case with Madarganj Police Station against 14 people including the convicted four.
