Your front page picture of a sparrow with its nest in the concrete jungle of Dhaka, that appeared on June 7, 2011, inspired me to put some bird homes all around our apartment building. While staying at Houston, I came across hundreds of houses that had bird homes meant for the wild birds hanging on the veranda. These bird homes are readily available in almost all the stores all over America, and not only this, most of the stores carry foods meant for these birds. Over times, people have changed their living habits, the descendants of the cave dwellers moved into exotic, expensive residences throughout the world more so in Dhaka, because of high demand and concentration of population. Similarly, these wild birds had to compromise with changing habits of humans in order to survive. It is very wisely said: "Necessity is the mother of invention." This has been wisely demonstrated by these urban sparrows. After a vigorous search, I found a few bird homes fashioned in the manner of weaving bird homes from a street vendor of handicrafts, who assured me to supply with more of these bird homes soon. In the meantime, I have already put all the three bird homes that I could find with the vendor. As soon as the vendor comes up with the assured supply, I hope to buy at least a dozen more and put those up for these winged chirping creatures.
