EU starts aid for 6,000 Sidr victim families

European Union (EU) yesterday started supply of food to 6,000 Sidr affected families in four unions under Galachipa upazila in the district. Under the programme, 6,000 families of Rangabali, Barabaishdia, Chhotobaishdia and Chalitabunia unions will get food support for from January to March. Each family is getting 30 kg of rice, six kg of dal, two kg of salt, two blankets, two soaps, one dozen of candle, two gas lighters. Gordon Shanoon, finance manager of Christian Aid (Asia) launched the programme as the chief guest at Launch Ghat of Chalitabunia union in Galachipa upazila. The EU will also build dwelling house for those families, Shanoon told journalists after launching the programme.
