Bangladesh finally confers award on Indira Gandhi posthumously for her huge contribution to its independence; emotion-choked Sonia receives the recognition (July 26, 2011) We demand co-operation, not trade suppression.
Nayanabhiram It is a right step at right time. I think India will behave in a similar way to solve all disputed issues in earnest.
M. K. Alam It is always better late than never. Present Govt has taken a right decision to show nation's respect to Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi for her whole-hearted support for the liberation of the country when present friends like China and USA were opposed to our liberation struggle.
Dr reza khan India has had 2 Muslims who were Presidents of this country, we had Muslims who were Chief Justice of India, we had and have several senior ministers who are Muslims, we had Muslim Army Chief - need I say more. Don't get carried away and propagate hatred.

Afreen Good gesture from Bangladesh side. Now India should prove that it is really our true friend. Specially by doing three things 1) By stopping killing in border areas, 2) By destroying Farrakkah dam because it is causing loss of thousands crores taka every year. Millions of tonnes of fishes are not produced and irrigation facility has been severely hampered because of this dam. 3) By not constructing Tipaimuk dam.
Mahboob Hossain It would have been right to recognize Mrs. Indira Gandhi during her lifetime for her greatest contribution. Anyway I am happy to see recognition in our lifetime.
Alok Mojumder Indira Gandhi's main desire was to disintegrate Pakistan in the name of independence of Bangladesh. This desire was fulfilled by us. If India is a true friend then it will resolve all disputes in friendly manner.

Quazi Shairul Hassan It is a great recognition to the contribution during our historic Liberation War in 1971, by the late Indian Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandi. Bangladesh has repaid its gratitude and honour to the great Indian leader, who stood by the people of Bangladesh during our most catastrophic and critical days in 1971, when the people were being killed, tortured and our mothers, sisters and daughters raped by the Pakistan Army.
Kazi Salim On one hand late Indira Gandhi did a great job for our nation, but in another aspect, due to Simla pact with Pakistan for Kashmir issue, we couldn't try the 195 war criminals. We have to write unbiased history. India and US still can help us to bring at least the criminals to justice. Otherwise it's a half-done mission for the nation.
Dr. karim It's a great honour to felicitate a renowned statesman like Indira Gandhi with our highest award. Her tireless journey across the globe for our freedom will remain an act of her courage and determination to help us from the clutches from the tyrannical Pakistani military machine.
A Coudhury How are Muslims treated in India? They usually do not get upper positions in the Government, in public services or military services or in education sector. In different times they have been targeted in riots... How Bangladesh is being treated by its neighbour? River system has been caused to collapse causing deserts, siltation or flooding. There is huge imbalance of trade against Bangladesh whereas quality goods and investment from Bangladesh are being barred from entering India; otherwise Bangladesh could be like Singapore.
