Punish the immoral teachers

Humayun Hyder, Zigatola, Dhaka

It is very disgusting to read in the newspapers how some male teachers of a respected girls' school like Viqarunnisa in Dhaka are harassing female students, taking undue advantage of their position and authority. These teachers, alleged by the students, use abusive language in the class, make indecent gestures and even give corporal punishment to these girl students. Despite the complaints of the aggravated students to the higher authorities, no actions were taken yet against those errant school teachers, which is rather mysterious. However, it is learnt that the school authorities do not dare to take actions against those teachers as they hail from Gopalganj, which is our prime minister's hometown. It is absolutely necessary to mention that these indecent acts of the teachers should be termed as highly unethical and outrageous and must be dealt with stringent actions and exemplary punishments. We, the concerned guardians, sincerely hope that the school board would terminate these teachers immediately, for showing their complete disrespect to this noble profession and publish these teachers' photos and the reasons behind their termination in the newspapers, so that their wrong doings are exposed to all. Cases should be filed against them and law should handout exemplary punishment against these immoral teachers.
