Gamchha on parade!
A colourful photograph of 'Gamchhas' in an otherwise drab background of 'Punjabis'; published in the pages of the weekly Holiday on July 22nd was most welcome! It recognizes the arrival of the 'Gamchha' as a part of the dress and not just the local version of the towel!
The 'Gamchha' adds an attractive contrast to the popular 'Pajama and Punjabi' dress style popular in most social gatherings particularly during the summer! Otherwise, gent's dresses are limited to white, off-white and some pale conservative shades of black, brown or gray in their informal dress colour options!
Often, however, the younger set goes for softer shades of blue, green and even red in their Punjabies! We welcome this new style of cool and soft dress that is coming into popular use these days. This dress is far more comfortable than the coat, two-piece suit and worst of all, the suffocating neck-tie in the hot summer!
