Mahbub Ali Khan's anniversary of death today
Today is the 27th death anniversary of Rear Admiral (retd) Mahbub Ali Khan, a former chief of naval staff and minister for communications and agriculture. To mark the day, different programmes include placing wreaths at his grave at Banani Graveyard, offering special prayers at different mosques in Dhaka, Sylhet, Bogra and Jamalpur, recitation from the holy Quran and distributing of foods at different orphanages, says a press release. Besides, seminars and discussions on his life and works will be held in Sylhet. Bangladesh Navy will also organise programmes at all the naval bases in the country. Surovi, a voluntary organisation founded by his family members, will hold milad mahfils at all branches of the organisation across the country. Doa mahfil will also arranged in the UK, USA, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia to observe the day.
