Bazlur Rahman was a rarity of time
Say speakers
Time rarely sees the birth of such a soft spoken but fearless person like Bazlur Rahman, who dared to speak the truth even in adverse situations, said speakers at a discussion yesterday.
The ideology of freedom fighter Bazlur Rahman who worked as a journalist for nearly five decades should be upheld to take the country forward, they said.
The discussion was organised by Bazlur Rahman Foundation at Kochi Kanchar Mela auditorium in observance of his 71st birth anniversary, which was on August 3.
Speaking at the programme, journalist Abed Khan said, “He (Bazlur Rahman) was also a dedicated teacher of journalism. His knowledge on journalism was so immense that he could easily explain an event to anyone.”
Bazlur Rahman was a non-communal, patriotic and honest person who can be the role model for many others, said Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled, the foundation chairman.
Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, the foundation General Secretary Kashem Humayun and the daily Sangbad acting editor Khondoker Muniruzzaman spoke at the programme, where Bazlur Rahman's wife and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury and the daily Sangbad Editor Altamas Kabir were present.
Bazlur Rahman breathed his last in February, 2008. He was the former editor of the daily Sangbad and also served in Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and the Press Council.
