New alliance emerges in politics

The country's six smaller political parties has formed an alliance with a commitment to strengthening democracy, by reducing the existing gap between the two big alliances or main political parties. The new alliance named "Patriotic Democratic Front" (PDF) was launched at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) on Thursday. The six parties are National Security Party (NSP), Jatiya Swadhinata Party (JSP), National Awami Party (Nap-Bhashani), National Congress, Kalyan Party, and Jatiya Janata Party. NSP Chairman and PDF Coordinator Prof Abul Kalam Azad read out a written statement at the conference amid presence of Nap Chairman Mostak Ahmed Bhasani, JSP Chairman Moazzem Hossain Khan Mazlish, National Congress Party Chairman Eng Abul Hossain, and Kalyan Party Education and Research Secretary Syed Mahbub Hossain.
