Driver stabbed to death

A covered van driver was stabbed to death by hijackers on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Sitakunda yesterday. The victim is Abu Bakar Siddiqui, 48, son Fazlur Rahman of Munshiganj. Quoting eyewitness, police said when Siddiqui reduced his vehicle's speed at the middle of Kumira bypass around 3:30am, a group of hijackers stabbed him, leaving him critically injured. His helper Sujan brought Siddiqui to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead. OC of Sitakunda Highway Anwar Hossain said criminals take opportunity of hijacking for the speed breaker.
