AL factions observe Mourning Day in Ctg separately
Two rival factions of Chittagong city Awami League (AL) yesterday observed National Mourning Day separately one led by City president ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and another by Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Ameen.
Mohiuddin went to Tungipara of Gopalganj and arranged a "Chittagramer Mezban" serving around 10,000 packets of foods to the visitors on Bangabandhu's Mazar premises there yesterday.
They also placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the party office in the port city.
On the other hand, supporters of Afsarul Ameen paid tribute to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at the office of Nurul Islam MP at Dost Building in the city. But Nurul Islam and Afsarul Ameen were not present there.
BNP-backed Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor M Manjur Alam attended special prayers, organised by CCC, marking the day.
