Plaintiff sent to jail for filing false case

The plaintiff of a case was arrested and sent to jail here yesterday for filing a false case under Women and Children Repression Act, police and court sources said. The arrestee is Morzina Begum,45, wife of late Abiar Rahman of Dakhkin Motukpur village in Domar upazila, they said. Morzina had a long-standing fued with Jamiruddin,50, at the same village. Morzina filed a case against Jamir with Domar police station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on July 13, 2007. In the complaint, she said Jamir entered her room at dead of night on July 12 by breaking open the bamboo fence of her room and raped her forcefully. Later, police investigated the matter and found the case to be false and baseless. Then the Investigation Officer (IO) placed the final report in the court. Finally, the court issued warrant of arrest against the plaintiff for filing the false case. Accordingly, police arrested Marzina at dead night on Friday. She was sent to jail the next day. Recently the number of cases under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act increased abnormally. Lawyers sources said most of the cases were proved to be false by court.
