Outlaw killed in 'shootout' in Pabna

A top outlawed leader was killed in a shootout with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and police and the criminals' cohorts at village 'Ramjibanpur' of Tantibanda union in Sujanagar upazila in Pabna yesterday.
Outlaw Arif allias Badal, 35, of village Faradpur in Ataikula upazila was killed as Rab and police launched a drive in Sujanagar upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent.
When the team reached village 'Ramjibanpur', the criminals opened fire on the law enforcers. Two policemen were also injured during the shootout, sources said.
Rab recovered a single barrel gun, a shutter gun, a light machine gun and two bullets from the spot.
Badal was a former zonal chief of the Sarbahara faction of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) and recently formed a new faction 'Maobadi Sangha Bangladesh', Rab said, adding that he was accused in several cases including nine for murder.

Rab in separate raids in Meherpur upazila arrested two outlaws and recovered two arms and three bombs.
They are PBCP cadres, Abbas Ali and Amirul Islam Khokon.
